Funeral services for celebrating the life of Barge D. Elmore will be held Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. at Church of Christ in Homer, Louisiana with Ray Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Church of Christ Cemetery in Magnolia, Arkansas under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church prior to the service.
Barge was born August 31, 1930, in Columbia County, Arkansas and took his heavenly flight May 29, 2022, in Arcadia, Louisiana surrounded by loved ones. Barge was a minister and served as pastor at numerous churches and on the mission field. He loved his Lord and Savior and always preached Jesus and the cross. He enjoyed fishing, music, playing instruments, grilling, and singing. His greatest pleasure was spending time with family laughing and telling old tales of his life. He will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Abb and Hattie Elmore, first wife, Marzelle Phelps Elmore, son, Dennis Elmore and his siblings, Bessie, Bertan, Bama, Betress, Barton, Benjamin, Bunche, Britten, Belvern, Blannon, Baucum, and Bobbie.
He is survived by his wife, Irma Louise Elmore of Minden; son, Darrell Elmore of Homer; stepchildren, Dillard Sikes and wife Ginger, Grover Sikes and wife Lisha, Elisha Taylor and husband Dal, and Lavetra Johnson all of Minden; grandchildren, Denver Elmore, Matthew Elmore, and Denise Elmore Gore and husband Jeremy; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ken Bailey, Lee Brantley, Roger DeLoach, Jerry Mathewes, James Sike, and Jeremy Sikes.
