Mrs. Wernli Dies at Home Near Apache

A Native of Switzerland, She Had Lived In this Community 35 Years—Was Aged 93.
Mrs. Barbara Wernli, 93 years old, died at her home 4 miles northeast of Apache at 10:25 o'clock last Thursday night. She had been in poor health for two years.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at St. Peter's Lutheran church, which is located on the Wernli farm. The officiating minister was Rev. K. H. Schaaf of Chickasha, who was assisted by Rev. H. Heitfeld of Lawton. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Wernli's maiden name was Miss Barbara Ging and she was born at Thalheim, Switzerland, on September 16, 1845 (or 43). She was married to Jacob Wernli at Thalheim in 1871 and eight children were born to them. Three of the children, two sons and a daughter, are deceased.
The family came to the United States in 1889, locating at Belleville, Tex., and later resided at Pflugersville and Taylor, Tex., before coming to the Apache community in 1904. The family bought the farm 4 miles Northeast of town and this continued to be the home of the deceased until her death. Mrs. Wernli united with the Lutheran church early
in life. She was held in the highest esteem by all who know her.
Surviving her are three sons, Henry and Jacob of Apache and Sam of Taylor, Tex.; two daughters, Miss Anna Wernli of Apache and Mrs. H.Hatfield (?) of Lawton; and 26 grandchildren.
