Kevin Van Sickel:

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. today at Holy Name Catholic Church for Kevin Anthony Van Sickel, 50, Topeka, who died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at a Topeka nursing home. He had been ill for several years. He was born Dec. 3, 1951, at Fort Belvoir, Virgina, to Ronald and Patricia Stickney Van Sickel. He moved to Topeka in 1967 and graduated from Hayden High School in 1969. He attended Maryknoll College in Illinois for two years and received an master's degree in mathematics and an master's degree in electrical engineering, both at The University of Kansas. He lived from 1978 to 1992 in Dallas, Texas where he was a radar systems analyst for Texas Instruments. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers. He married Delene M. Hafner on May 25, 1974, in Topeka. She survives. A daughter, Brianna Van Sickel, died in 1983. Other survivors include a son, Nicholas A. Van Sickel, Topeka; two daughters, Celessa M. Van Sickel and Aubrey M. Van Sickel, both in Topeka; his mother, Patricia Van Sickel, Topeka; five brothers, Gregory Van Sickel, Whittier, California, Christopher Van Sickel and Stephen Van Sickel, both in Wichita, Matthew Van Sickel, Oak Harbor, Washington, and Andrew Van Sickel, Mundelein, Illinois; and a granddaughter. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery.
