The Terre Haute Tribune (July 13, 1947) reported "Mrs. Mary Lucas, 75 years old, died at 3:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Vermillion County Hospital. She lived at R.R. 1 Rosedale. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Lucille Wright, Mrs. Henrietta Phipps, Mrs. Gail Marchino, Mrs. Edna Akers, and Mrs. Clara Brown, all of Terre Haute, and Mrs. Nellie McGraw of Indianapolis; one brother, Fred Guess of East Glenn; and eight grandchildren. The body was taken to the Frist Funeral Home where friends may call Sunday and Monday. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery."
