Dale Frederick Schultz, 90, left us to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 20, 2023, in Post Falls, Idaho. Dale was born in Brainerd, Minn., to Marion and Fred Schultz, the fourth of eight children. He attended Brainerd schools. Upon graduation, he left cold Minnesota for warm California. He met his sweetheart, Barbara, in a Youth Group at Burlingame Baptist Church. It was there they married in December of 1954. They welcomed two children into their lives: David and Jeannie (both now deceased).
The couple lived in Saratoga, Calif., and then in Mt. Hermon, a Christian Conference Center, until Dale transferred to Darigold in Spokane. They lived in Spokane until Dale's retirement in 2000. They then moved into their summer home in Cocolalla, Idaho. It was there they lived an active life for a number of years. In later years they moved to Garden Plaza of Post Falls.
Dale served in several area churches as a Sunday school teacher, deacon and Awana leader. Among those churches were: Mead Community, Carey Memorial, First Baptist Spokane, Hillyard Baptist, and Kootenai Community Church where he remained a member. He was currently attending Garden Plaza Fellowship. For many years, Dale was very involved in the ministry of Cocolalla Lake Bible Camp. Besides physical work on the grounds, he served on the Board of Directors.
Dale served in the United States Army during the Korean War era. Upon discharge, he worked as a clerk for the Southern Pacific Railroad, then as a grocery clerk in Cupertino. Dale then worked for Darigold Farms in San Jose, Calif., and then in Spokane. He retired from there after 40 years first, as a truck driver and then many years as a sales representative.
Dale will be remembered for his friendliness, sense of humor and compassion toward others. No one was a stranger to him for very long. He will be missed so very much by his wife of 69 years, Barbara, his daughter-in-law, Dolley, his four adult grandchildren, his 11 great-grandchildren and his many friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at the Cocolalla Lake Bible Camp. Dale will be laid to rest in the Westmond Cemetery. Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements.
