JACKSONVILLE -Services for John Quincy Adams Jr., of Jacksonville, are set for 3 p.m. Monday at Mount Haven CME Church with the Revs. Z. Bell, Daniel Brown, L.T. Session and T.C. Cook officiating. Burial will be in Ragadale Cemetery under direction of Mercy Funeral Home.

Mr. Adams died Friday at his residence after a long illness. He was born in Cherokee County and raised in Pine Grove community where he attended school and church. He was a member of the Brisby Chapel AME Church and Brisby Chapel Masonic Lodge No. 407. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Mae Retha Thompson and Miss Opal Adams, both of Jacksonville; five sons, Ernest Adams, Willie Lee Adams and Howard Adams, all of Jacksonville; Othell Adams of Houston; and John Q. Adams Jr. of Tyler; 15 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Grady Franklin, Z.G. Green Jr., Stacy Franklin, Tommy Lee Nayes, Zelvin Hancock and Arthur Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be stewards of Brisby Chapel AME Church.
