Malinda C. Shaul was born near Noblesville, Indiana, December 1, 1835.
Eleven years later her parents moved to Mo., then a new country, settling near Palmyra. A few years later again moved settling on government land in Iowa, near a little village of log cabins called Ottumwa.
Here she grew to womanhood and here she met, loved and married a young man from Illinois named William Bently(Bentley), this event took place March 15th 1856. To this union 6 children were born, Frank II Bently, William Harvey; Charles C.; Orestus L.; Hattie A. and Bert, All born near Ottumwa, Iowa except Bert I. who was born near Westmoreland, Kansas.
Leaving Iowa with her husband and family they settled near Westmoreland, Kansas in 1873. The rest of her life was spent in Kansas.
She became a Christian in early life and was always an earnest, active Christian, dying in the triumph of a loving faith. She closed her long useful life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. C. Witter at Salina, Kansas on Sept. 3, 1919, age 83 years, 9 months and 2 days.
She leaves to mourn her departure, her 6 children, 1 brother and a host of other relatives and friends, many of whom are present here today.
She has gone to her reward.
Funeral services were conducted Friday at 11 o'clock from the Havensville, Christian Church by A. J. Carrick, minister.
The body was laid to rest beside that of her husband in the Havensville cemetery.
