REVOLUTIONARY WAR:
He enlisted in the Northern Army in Captain Nay's company, July 1776/ In 1818, Thomas Colby of Bow, NH, aged 62 years, deposed: that he enlisted 6 January 1776, under Captain Samuel Richards for one year. He served at Winter Hill, Albany, New York; Montreal Sorel, and St. John's Canada, Mount Independence, Vermont; Ticonderoga, New York; Pennsylvania; and back to Albany. Only 16 out of 70 who enlisted with him were living when he was discharged. Jacob S. Colby testified that Thomas Colby enlisted "in my father's home," and he enlisted with him. Thomas's pension was approved and Mr. Colby received a pension until his death in 1848.
