Backenstose - Leighlitner

A small quiet wedding took place Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Chester Bethel Methodist Church, when Miss Eunice M. Leighlitner, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. H. G. Leighlitner, of Phillipsburg, Pa., became the bride of Paul Backenstose, of Downingtown.

The ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Mr. Habbart, and the couple were attended by Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Schrumpf, of Dowingtown.

After a short wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Backenstose wil be at home to their friends at 315 Stuart avenue, Downingtown.

The bride is a graduate of the Phillipsburg High School and the Homeopathic Hospital Training School in the class of 1939.

Paul H. Backenstose, 315 Stuart ave., Downingtown, died today in the Paoli Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was 66.

Born in Downingtown, son of the late Levi and Rose Backenstose, he was the husband of Eunice Leighlitner Backenstose. He lived in Downingtown all his life.

Mr. Backenstose was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and a fire policeman with the Alert Fire Co. He was employed by the Beloit Eastern Corp. as a shipping clerk.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Paul and Charles, both of West Chester.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from the Edward L. Towson Funeral Home, 43 W. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, Pa., on Tueday, December 31, 1968, at 2 p.m. Interment Northwood Cemetery, Downingtown. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday evening.

Funeral services for Paul H. Backenstose of 315 Stuart ave., Downingtown, were held from the Edward L. Towson Funeral Home, Downingtown, Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Walter Schuman, pastor of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Downingtown, officiating.

Interment was in Northwood Cemetery. Bearers were Robert Pollock, Norman Pannebaker, Jr., Thomas L. Lee, Earl Stern, John McAlpine and William Barrett, all members of the Alert Fire Co.

Members of both the Alert and Minquas Fire Companies called in a body Monday evening at the funeral home.
