A Kirby Inland Marine boat captain and a native and resident of Maringouin, he died at home on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009. He was 52 and a 1973 graduate of Livonia Academy. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, Jan. 22, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home chapel on Friday from 8 a.m. until religious service at 1:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Tommy Purvis. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Sheila Prestenback, Maringouin; daughter, Kimberly Prestenback, Baton Rouge; stepdaughter, Jerri Goldman and her husband, Matt, Brookhaven, Miss.; sister, Joanna Badon and her husband, Henry, Maringouin; brother, Robert Prestenback and his wife, Brenda, St. Louis; step-grandchildren, Kayla, Cody and Kaitlyn Goldman; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mary Granger Prestenback; and his uncle and aunt, Ferdie and Hazel Prestenback, who reared him as their own. Pallbearers will be Henry Badon, Ronnie Badon, Robert Prestenback, Doug Simmons, Ricky Johnson and Michael King. Honorary pallbearers are Bryan Taylor, Darrel Taylor, Tommy King, Allen King, Steve Repp, Eddie Kimble and Luben Jewell.
