She was born on Oct. 30, 1913, on the family homestead on St. Francis St. in Mt. Calvary, a daughter of the late Jacob and Katherine Weber Abler.
She attended school in Mt. Calvary and worked at Abler's Grocery Store in Mt. Calvary until her marriage. On May 6, 1950, she married Ervin Hau at Holy Cross Church in Mt. Calvary. He preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 2001. She owned Hau Grocery Store with her husband until they retired in 1983 when they sold the store.
She was a member of Holy Cross Church in Mt. Calvary. She also was a member of Christian Mother's Society, Catholic Knights, Mt. Calvary Homemakers, 4-H, and Villa Loretto Auxillary.
Survivors include one daughter, Elaine Fisher of Oshkosh; three grandchildren, Marcie, Ben and Amanda; and one brother, Leo Abler of Mt. Calvary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one infant son, Larry Joseph; two brothers, Richard and Norbert Abler; and her sisters, Coletta Dreifuerst, Sybilla Oestreicher; and an infant sister Mary.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Holy Cross Church in Mt. Calvary. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the Huss-Sippel Funeral Home in St. Cloud on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again Monday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her name.
