Deceased Name: John F. Baughman
John F. Baughman, 75, of Cross Lanes passed away April 28, 2004, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
He was a former pilot and biochemist and previously worked for NASA, Carbide and the federal government. He was president of the Scientific Research Product Production Company.
He was a devout Christian.
Born in Kanawha County, he moved back 30 years ago.
He served in the Navy Air Force during World War II, attended Stonewall Jackson High School, Charleston Business College and the University of Kentucky and was a graduate of Kanawha Flying School.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Azevedo Baughman of Cross Lanes; his sons and their wives, Rusty "Harvey" and Michelle Herb of St. Albans, Glen and Catherine Herb of Pocatalico; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Service will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 3, at Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Richard Chirichiello officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Charleston, with military rites conducted by VFW Post 8366, Gauley Bridge.
Friends may call from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where there will be a prayer service at 4 p.m., and one hour prior to service Monday.
