Joe Anderson, 77, died at the Ozark Medical Center in West Plains where he had been a patient for just a few hours. He died at 5:15 p.m. Monday, August 12. He had been ill since May 2, 1984, when he was in an auto accident from which he never recovered. The retired timber worker resided in Alton.
Anderson was born September 26, 1907, in Ponder. He married Pearl O'Dell on August 16, 1930, in Bardley. He lived all his life in Ripley County prior to moving to Alton in October of 1984.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Wanda Jo Riggs, Murrayville, Ill., Patsy Joan Chapman, Springfield, Ill., and Bonnie Sue Wood, of Chatham, Ill.; one son, Bobby Anderson, Alton; and three sisters, Willa Kersner, Poplar Bluff, Opal Anderson of St. Louis, and Beatrice O'Dell, Doniphan. He also had eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation begins at 6 p.m. today (Wednesday). The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 15, at the Briar Assembly of God Church under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Bardley Cemetery with Rev. William Pitts officiating. Prospect-News August 14, 1985
