Death of Pioneer
While at work on the roof of his new barn, Henry W. Clark of Garden Valley was hurled to the ground a distance of 26 feet, on last Wednesday and injuries sustained which resulted in his death a few hours later while being taken to Boise. His son Alvin, who was with him on the roof, was also carried to the ground by the accident but suffered only a few minor bruises.
Mr. Clark was one of our honored pioneers, having come to Idaho 35 years ago. He was born at Warsaw, Ind., Jan. 21, 1861. He was married on Oct. 15th, to Sarah Jane Moore, to which union five children were born.
The wife and two children have preceded him in death. There survive him two sons and one daughter, Glendon, Alvin and Minnie. The children are well known here, having been students in our high school. He was identified with the Methodist church and a member of the Odd Fellows lodge.
The funeral service was held at his late home on Friday at 1 p.m. conducted by Pastor A. C. Lathrop, and was largely attended by friends and neighbors. Several carloads of Emmett friends also attended. The service at the cemetery was conducted by the Odd Fellows.
