Services for Mrs. Delano
Funeral services for Mrs. Victor Delano were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Congregational church with the Rev. Orlan Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Clarion Evergreen cemetery with Eyler Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Bertha Aletta Delano was born on a farm eight miles north of Clarion, Iowa on the eighth day of May, 1902 to Andrew and Anna Jacobson. She passed away at the Clarion Hospital on the fifteenth day of November, after an illness of two years.
At an early age she moved to Belmond, Iowa, with her parents, where she received her education.
On June 11, 1923, she was united in marriage to Victor J. Delano. To this union were born four children: Nadine, Mrs. C.R. Buchanan of Des Moines, Donna Mae, Mrs. George Spellmyer of Clarion, Marjorie Ann, Mrs. C.F. Emhoff of Mason City and Joan Aletta, who preceded her mother in death. Mrs. Delano was also preceded in death by her parents, two half-sisters, two sisters and one half-brother.
Mr. and Mrs. Delano have been long-time residents of Lincoln township, where she was a member of the Lincoln Friendly Club. She was also a member of the First Congregational Church at Clarion, where for years she taught in the Sunday School and was a faithful member of the Women's Fellowship.
Surviving Mrs. Delano besides her husband and daughters, are nine grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Amanda Mehus of Kanawha, and a large number of nieces and nephews. Mourning her passing also is a host of other relatives and friends.
