Jason grew up in Logan, Nibley, and Young Ward, Utah. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After moving to California, his family lived in Sunnyvale and Santa Clara where he attended middle school and high school and graduated from Prospect High. In 2000 he graduated from _Expression Center for New Media in Emeryville, California in Sound Arts and then lived again in Santa Clara. He had recently moved to Santa Cruz, California. At the time of his death he was working at Guitar Showcase in San Jose, played bass guitar in a band, and did various sound-related jobs.
Jason had many talents and particularly enjoyed his guitar, music, photography, art, and astronomy. Jason was a loyal, loving, and warm person who will be missed by many friends and family.
Jason is survived by his mother and stepfather, Danette (Munk) and Jeffrey McGilvray of Fremont, California; his father, Denny Taggart of Smithfield, Utah; his sister, Tiffani Taggart of Wheaton, Illinois; his grandparents Keith M. and Myrtle F. Munk of Logan, Utah and Keith D. and RaNee Taggart of Smithfield, Utah; and close extended family of many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Chapel services were held in Fremont, California on Sunday, June 22, at the Fremont Chapel of the Roses.
Services in Utah will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2003 in the Young Ward LDS Church at 2394 West 2200 South, Young Ward. The viewing will begin at 10 a.m. with a funeral service at 12 noon. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Allen-Cranney Mortuary in North Logan, Utah. If desired, donations can be made in Jason's name to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City on behalf of Heart Research.
