WALTER A HIXENBAUGH, 89, died at Wuesthoff Hospice. He grew up in Columbus, OH and graduated from Ohio State University in 1941. He then served as a Chemical Corps Officer in the Philippines during WWII. He relocated to Florida with Radiation in 1960 as Manager of Budgeting, was Deputy Accounting Director with TWA at the Kennedy Space Center KSC and was Finance Director with the City of Cocoa until he retired in 1982. He served as a city councilman in Melbourne Beach. Walt was predeceased by his wife, Julia in 1988. He is survived by his wife, Jeannie of Merritt Island; brother, Dan of Jacksonville; children, Dan and Debbie of Orlando, David and Lucy of Rockledge, FL; grandchildren, Joy and John of Jacksonville, Kelly and Nathan of Longwood, FL and Molly and Dan of Satellite Beach, FL; great-grandchildren, Logan, Andrew, Kiley, Payton and Addison. He was a devout and active Catholic, including the St. Marys Rosary Society and 4th Degree and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Merritt Island, FL, with interment to follow at Florida Memorial Gardens. Published in FLORIDA TODAY 8/16/2009.
