Elizabeth (or "Eliza" as she was known to family and friends) was the daughter of Senah and Susan Medlin Smith and the wife of John William Harless whom she married Dec 24, 1879, at Madison County, Alabama. Their children included: William Eldridge, Lonnie Lee, Fannie Lou Josephine (A.A. Hill), Lillie Sue Terry (Hamer), Gracie May, Annie Drucie, Walter Bernice, Mattie Ethel, Sally Kate, Henry Allen, Beulah (Breasseale) and an infant son (buried at Hayden Cemetery). After her husband J.W. Harless died she married Robert M. Lusk in 1940 and after his death she married Rev. Melvin L. Shaw in 1946.
