Lillie Marie Westby, 84, of Nevis died Tuesday, March 3, at Sunset Nursing Home, Park Rapids. She was born May 24, 1896 at Gaylord to Erick and Betsy Skaro. She attended Oak Hill Public School, York County, Va. Lived in Gaylord MN, Cordelle, Ga., Williamsburgh, Va. and the last 48 years she lived in the Nevis area. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Nevis, MN.
She married Henry Carl Westby on April 12, 1919 at Sebeka, MN.
Survivors include one son: Harold Westby of West St. Paul, MN; three daughters: Mrs. Leonard (Betty) Hocking, Mrs. Warren (Marge) Batterson of Portland, OR and Mrs. Joe (Ruth) Spurlin of Nevis; one sister: Mrs. Anna Nordwall of Park Rapids, MN; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry, and one son, Gaylord.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 6 at Bethany Lutheran Church with the Rev. Daniel Holm officiating.
Pallbearers were: Richard Westby, Dean Westby, Earl Spurlin, Keven McKenzie, David Barnum and Paul Spurlin.
Honorary bearers were Lauren Westby and grandsons and grandsons-in-saw not present.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery with arrangements handled by the Erickson Funeral Home of Nevis.
