William O. Bullock was born in Franklin County, Georgia on Sept. 22, 1805, son of William and Spicy (Bowman) Bullock. He lived in Mississippi during the early part of his life and was married there in 1829 to Miss Sarah Atkin, daughter of Samuel Atkin. A large family was born to this couple, but only four survived - Semariah, Miranda, Percy and Monroe. Mr. Bullock had the distinction of being one of the few early settlers who remained on the same place where first settled in 1834, a place which was originally entirely covered by pines, but later was developed into a model plantation.
