LEO D. WESTFALL
Friends here will be interested in learning of the death of Leo D. Westfall, youngest brother of G.B. Westfall of Independence, who died on October 17 last at his home in Willamina, Oregon, after a four-months' illness of diabetes. Burial was made beside the remains of his mother in the cemetery in his home city. Mr. Westfall was born in Independence in the residence now owned by J.N. Barr November 4, 1866, and spent his younger days in Independence and vicinity. For some time before leaving here seventeen years ago he was engineer at the Gedney plant. He was a locomotive engineer in Oregon. Before leaving this city he was united in marriage with Miss Christina Brandenburg, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Brandenburg, of this city. She, with three daughters, one of whom is married, survives him, all living in Willamina. He also leaves four brothers, George of this city; Augustus B. of Monmouth, Oregon, Frank of Whitson, Oregon, and John of Tulare, California; also his aged father, J.M. Westfall of Willamina, former sheriff of Buchanan County, who is 89 years of age. Leaving here seventeen years ago, Mr. Westfall went to Chicago, where he lived for three years, and then went to Oregon, where he had since resided. The family's many friends here will be pained to learn of his death and sympathize with the bereaved ones.
