Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning for James C. Campbell, 65 year old Tetersburg farmer electrocuted early Saturday evening in the basement of his home.

Mr. Campbell was electrocuted when he picked up an extension cord while showing city light plant workers into his basement in to repair a pump. He pitched forward on his face immediately after touch the cord although Jess Tudor, light plant foreman, snatched it from Campbell's grasp and was uninjured.

It is believed that the cord contained a short circuit and probably administered a slight shock but that the actual cause of death was a weak heart condition due to advancing age.

The light plant workers had been repairing damage to lines near Tetersburg following an electrical storm and were asked by Campbell to take a look at a pump in his basement. He preceded Jess Tudor down the basement stairs, picked up the cord and fell forward on his face.

Tudor called Dr. Cotton from Goldsmith and attempted to bring the man back to life before the doctor arrived. He had died instantly.

The deceased was born September 11, 1875, one of six children born to John A. and Jane Elizabeth (Weed) Campbell, on the same farm where he died. Of the family, but one brother, George of Tipton, survives.

He was married to Maggie May Lohman in September of 1897 and the couple were parents of two children, one son dying in infancy and a daughter, Beulah, who works at the Citizen's National Bank, surviving. His wife also survives.

Mr. Campbell was actively engaged in farming at his death, although in recent years, due to his advanced age, he had employed a man to assist him.

Services will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning at the Leatherman - Morris funeral home, where the body lies in state. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Rev. J.A. Land, Goldsmith, will be in charge of services.
