Troy, his family and 3 of Troy's brothers and families left Penascola, FL circa 1934 headed west looking for work. They went through California and ended up in Portland, Oregon, where Troy and his brother Oscar were hired to work on the Bonneville Dam. Troy got sick and died of pneumonia while working on the dam. His family buried him in Oregon and then all returned to Florida.
