Catherine Louise Lockwood Burke-LaRue, 74, of West Lafayette, died at 4:12 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at Clarian Arnett Hospital.

Born in Templeton, Ind., on Sept. 9, 1934, she was the daughter of the late James and Cena Elliot Lockwood. She was a graduate of Oxford High School. She married William Alvin Burke Jr. in Kentland, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 1986. She married Amos Joe LaRue on May 17, 2009, and he survives. She worked as a CNA for eight years and was a homemaker. She was an Elvis Presley collector and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Surviving with her husband are two children, Alvin Burke of Indianapolis and Kimberly Burke of Lafayette. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Johnson; and 11 siblings. She loved her cat, "Nipper."
