Rev. Irvin D. Adkinson, son of Francis and Eliza (McHenry) Adkinson of Moorefield, Switzerland Co., Indiana....

He studied theology in college at Moore's Hill, Indiana and then at Hillsdale, Michigan and became a Free Will Baptist minister...he also attended Bangor Theological Seminary in Maine, where he met his wife..Mary Elden.

Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 25 Jun 1868 p2: "MARRIED---In Bangor, Rev. Ervin D. Adkinson, of Ridgeville, Indiana, and Miss Mary J. Elden, of Bangor."

There are many letters written by him to his brother and family during the Civil War that are in repository at Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana....

He eventually became the minister at the Congregational Church in West Condord, New Hampshire, where he died at the age of 37.
