Son of Andrew & Mary (Zalaha) Bakalar. A Streator, IL resident all of his life, he was retired from Thatcher Glass Manufacturing Company where he worked as a machinist by trade. Had also been a performer for the Ringling Brothers-Barnum & Bailey Circus in the 1930's. He was very active in the YMCA for 50 years, receiving an honorary lifetime membership in the organization for his work. Also a member of Masonic Lodge.
Survived by his wife, Bertha, who he married Sept. 10, 1910 in Streator; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Evelyn) Baumgart; three grandchildren & a great-granddaughter; two brothers & three sisters; several nieces & nephews.
