MILAN, Ill. -- Kathern Behrens of Milan, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 11, at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army. She was born Nov. 21, 1923, in Pittsburgh, Kan., the daughter of Raymond and Vinial Davidson. She was united in marriage to Wendlyn Behrens on Dec. 27, 1947, in Rock Island. Kathern grew up in Kansas and moved to the Quad Cities, began working at Oscar Mayer, where she met her loving husband of 56 years. She was a member of The Salvation Army Heritage Temple Corps and The Salvation Army Home League. Kathern enjoyed attending all of The Salvation Army Corps events. Kathern also looked forward to her weekly Bunco and Avon parties. Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Wendlyn, Milan; children and spouses, Rita K. (Jesse) Ferguson, Warsaw, Ind., Wendlyn Jr. (Betty) Behrens, Brooking, S.D., Clark W. (Ruth) Behrens, Rock Island, Raymond H. Behrens, Rock Island, and Douglas E. Behrens, Milan; brother, Bill Davidson, Bettendorf; two sisters, Wilma (John) Fuller, Milan, and Shirley (Bob) Cover, Davenport; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter, Bonnie Jean, sister, Viola Kunst, and two grandsons.
