Sarah Hunter Lott (Sally) O'Neill died on Wednesday, March 18, 2009. She was a native and life long resident of Mobile. Her parents, Y. D. and Sarah Hunter Lott, preceded Sally in death. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard S. (Rock) O'Neill and her five children-Shannon O'Neill Walsh (Edgar) Alison O'Neill Meacham (John) Anne O'Neill Reese, Erin O'Neill Cooper (John) and Richard Stewart O'Neill, Jr. (Vicki). Sally was devoted to her seventeen grandchildren, Sarah Blake Walsh, Richard Edgar Walsh, Hanlon Pritchard Walsh, Margaret Alison Meacham, John Edward Meacham, Jr., Caroline Parish Meacham, Helen Hunter Robertson, Katherine Anne Robertson, James O'Neill Robertson, Sarah Stewart Robertson, Andrew Thomas Robertson, Frances Moseley Cooper, John Taylor Cooper, Jr., Richard Stewart O'Neill, III, Annie Laurie O'Neill, Emily Helen O'Neill, Steven Charles O'Neill. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Yancy Davis "Bay" Lott, III (Jeannie), Annette Lott Dukes (Richard), Thomas Shannon Lott (Linda), Lillis Lott Lewis (Phil), Catherine Lott "Tiny" McPhillips (Manning). Sally attended Visitation Academy, Bishop Toolen High School, Georgetown Visitation, and the University of Alabama where she was a Kappa Kappa Gamma. Sally spent her life involved in numerous civic and community activities. She was a leader in many Mobile organizations such as Volunteer Mobile, the Friends of the Museum and the Steering Committee for Community Leadership. She served as Development Director at UMS-Wright and St. Ignatius Church. She was previously employed at Hieronymous, Gaillard and Jones. She served as relocation director at Pope and Quint and Praytor Realty. She was a member of several Mystic Societies. A Memorial Mass celebrating her life will be held from St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 10:30. Family will receive friends at the Marian Center from 9:00-10:30. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be sent to the Mulherin Custodial Home, 2496 Halls Mill Road, Mobile, AL 36606, or a charity of your choice.
