Glenn Roy Willis, 90, of Niota, died early Saturday morning, Aug. 8, 2009, at his home.

A native of Ironton, Ohio, he was a son of the late Urm and May Allen Willis, and was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Dulmage, Sadie Drubaker and Martha Skrillets; and two brothers, Romulus and Chester Willis. Prior to his moving to Niota two years ago, he lived in Hicksville, Ohio, and most recently, Stuart and Hobe Sound, Fla. He attended Aleria High School and Ohio State University, where he was a member of the football team, and was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. During his business career, he served as junior executive of Apex Electrical Manufacturing Company in Cleveland, Ohio from 1941-1952. After his career with Apex, he joined the Whirlpool Corporation in Benton Harbor, Mich. until his retirement in 1981. While at Whirlpool, he served as group vice president of Laundry and Refrigeration and general manager of the Laporte, Ind., Clyde, Ohio, and the Evansville, Ind. divisions. He retired as executive vice president, officer and director of the corporation.

He loved all sports, and was an avid golfer. He was a former member of various country clubs, including, Freemont, Ohio, Point O' Woods, Mich., Evansville, Ind., Sapphire, N.C., Jupiter Hills Club in Florida, Mariner Sands, Fla., and Martin Downs, Fla.

Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Jeanne Prouse Willis of Niota; two daughters, Jennifer Jones of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., and Ashley Willis of Niota; one son, Joseph Willis of Port Saint Lucie, Fla.; two grandsons, Andrew Jones and Matthew Jones; and three nephews, Howard Dulmage, Dennis Dulmage and Gene Dulmage.

Funeral services were 4 p.m. Wednesday at the family residence in Niota. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the residence.
