Funeral Services for Montana Pioneer Will Be Held at Drummond

Deer Lodge, Oct. 10--Funeral services for John Alexander Perriman, who died at the home of his daughter, Estella A. Perriman, at Drummond, Tuesday afternoon, will be held in Drummond on Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist church, and interment will be made in Valley cemetery at New Chicago.

Mr. Perriman, who was one of the first settlers and ranchers of the lower Deer Lodge valley, was born at Brighton, Missouri, and when a lad in his teens joined the Union army, serving through the Civil war. At the cessation of hostilities, Mr. Perriman, then 20 years of age, made the journey overland to Montana and settled in the territory between Deer Lodge and Drummond. In 1866 he was united in marriage with Miss Susan Treadwell, and of this union 12 children were born.

Deceased spent many years of ranching on this property, which is now known as the Bisonette ranch, located near Jens. A few years ago he retired from the rancning business and sold the place to its present owners. Mr. Perriman was an honored member of the Grand Army of the Republic, and was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends and neighbors.

Mr. Perriman is survived by a sister, Mrs. Armand Evenger, of Winfield, Kansas; nine children, James A. Perriman of Texarkana, Texas; Charles L. Perriman of Middleton, Calif.; Oscar E. and Stella A. Perriman of Drummond; John B. Perriman of Anaconda; Lucy J. Caughran of Conrad; Daniel M. Perriman of Walla Walla, Wash; Mrs. Laura E. Bunker of Seattle; and Mrs. H.L. Harrison of Clayton, Wash.
