STRICKEN WHILE WORKING ON ROAD
HEART TROUBLE FATAL TO R.D. BALLINGER
PASSED AWAY AT HIS HOME FRIDAY.
FUNERAL FROM R.L.D.S. CHURCH ON MONDAY
R.D. Ballinger, veteran member of the Cameron Special Road district maintenenance crew of Ballinger & Brown, was stricken with a heart attack Friday morning while driving a tractor on a road job southwest of town near the P.B. Scammahorn farm.
He was at once brought to his home on East Eighth street by Mr. Scammahorn and a physician was called but Mr. Ballinger passed away at 10:45 A.M.
Mr. Ballinger was 56 years old and a life-long resident of this locality.
The body was removed to the Lyle C. Allen Funeral Home, where it remained until Monday afternoon when funeral services were conducted from the R.L.D.S. Church by Elder E.E. Jennings. Burial was in the Delano cemetery north of Cameron.
Ruel Delana Ballinger, son of Mark and Hanna Ballinger was born in DeKalb Co., Mo. near Cameron on Oct. 23, 1881 and departed this life on march 4, 1938, at the age of 56 years, 4 months and 9 days.
He was united in marriage to Mary Emma Caley on August 12, 1903, and to this union four children were born, two daughters and two sons.
He was baptized at an early age into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and in 1915 was ordained a deacon into this same church. Brother Ballinger remained faithful to his church until death called him home.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving companion, Mary Emma (Caley) Ballinger, worthy of all his devotion and love; his four children, Ruth A. SEars of Lineville, Iowa; Helen M. Heinz of Cameron; Wesley R. and Carl D. Ballinger of Omaha, Neb.; his daughter-in-law, sons-in-law and five grandchildren, also his aged mother, Hannah Purdence (Frost) Ballinger, one sister, Mrs. Madge Hancock of Wichita Fall, Texas, two brothers Bert and Roy Ballinger of Cameron, and a host of other relatives and friends.
For nineteen years he was a loyal and efficient worker as maintainer for the Special Road District, and it was while working in this capacity that he became ill and was brought by some of his friends to his home, where he passed away a short time later. He worked not only for a livelihood, but took genuine pride and joy in doing his work as near perfect as possible.
He is leaving a heritage that is worth more than gold or silver, for he truly was a monument and instrument in the hands of God among his fellowmen to do good. He will always be remembered by his love and unselfish devotion to his beloved wife and children.
