About 1866, his daughter Louisa Vaughn, her husband, James Ackerman Vaughn, and his 5 children by his second wife arrived in Grimes County.

Samuel Andrew Jackson Pyle, brother of James Peter and Sarah Margaret Moseley was born in Alabama in 1818. He married Almyra Abbott in DeSota Parish, LA 2/26/1838. They had one child who grew to maturity. She was Louisa, born about 1842,. Louisa married James Ackerman Vaughn 11/22/1858, also in DeSota Parish. To them was born one child, Susan A. b: 1/6/1865 in DeSota Parish, LA. Almyra died, and Samuel married his second wife Mary A. Headrick 10/17/1848 in DeSoto Parish, LA. They had 6 children. Samuel A.J. Jr., b: 1849, he married Ellen F. Pace. Milford (Dump), b: 8/1855, married Laura A. Pace. Frances married Robert Burns, d:1929, and was buried at Martins Prairie Cemtery. James Marion b: 8/10/1856 - d:10/21/1921 and is buried at Concord Cemetery, Iola, TX. He married Bell Zoria Wells. Jefferson Davis, b: about 1873 - d: 9/1903 in Rosebud, TX as a result of being gored by a bull. He married Lorena Borbitt. All these children were born in DeSota Parish, LA. Mary R. was the only child to be born in Grimes County, TX at Keith. She married Alf H. Gressitt. All of these marriages were in Grimes County.

Jack Pyle died in 1873, for in that year James Ackerman Vaughn made application to be administrator of the property of his daughter, Susan A. Vaughn, granddaughter of Jack Pyle. Mary Ann Headrick Pyle d: 11/15/1904 and is buried in the Martin Prairie Cemetery among relatives.

Samuel Andrew Jackson "Jack" Pyle is buried on his property - by the garden. This grave is on private property, CR244, Grimes County, Texas(across from the Keith Fire Department). He has a marker as a Civil War Veteran. He was my GGGrandfather.
