(ANNISTON) Services for Velma Lorene Stewart Boyd, 87, were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at New Home United Methodist Church, Wedowee, with the Revs. Benny Cosper, Gary Stewart, Tommy Burke and James Robertson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Boyd died Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Noland Hospital/RMC in Anniston.
A native of Randolph County, Mrs. Boyd had lived most of her life in the Anniston area. She was a member of New Home United Methodist Church. She had retired from Anniston Army Depot. She loved a good joke, and she was usually the one telling it or pulling a prank on one of her many friends or family members. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and wife. She was known as Aunt Rene to her many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Boyd is preceded in death by her husband, Garvis Hubert Boyd; her parents, Ervin and Myrtle Stewart; a son, Donald Boyd; two daughters, Pamela and Darlene Boyd; and two brothers, Curtis and Marlin Stewart.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane Lindsey and Connie Robertson of Anniston; a sister, Louise Stone; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and in-laws.
Pallbearers were Mike Stewart, Tony Stewart, Clarence Stewart, Josh Robertson, Dustin Boyd, Adam Stewart and Joseph Stewart.
