William Edgar Irvine, 90, of Dysart, died Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at his home under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice, after a short illness. He was born July 13, 1919, on a farm near Dysart, son of John and Jennie Wilson Irvine. On March 12, 1949, he married Annabelle Lund at the Presbyterian Church, Cedar Falls.
He graduated from Geneseo High School in 1936 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Irvine farmed until retirement.He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Irvine is survived by his wife; two daughters, Margaret (Keith) Knudsen of Omaha, Nebraska, and Joann Heckroth of Cedar Rapids; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, David and four sisters, Marion Arnold, Margerette Melnar, Jean Banzhof and Betty Irvine.
Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Traer United Presbyterian Church, with burial in Buckingham Cemetery, Traer. There will be no visitation.
