She was the daughter of William Isaac and Ida Bowman Sanders. She came to Indianola as a child from Quitman, Texas, and lived her life in Indianola where she was a member of First Baptist Church. She married James Madison Countz on July 10, 1940, in Eufaula. She was a licensed practical nurse. She was nurse administrator of Lakeshore Nursing Home of Eufaula and worked as a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital, General Hospital and McAlester Regional Health Center. Prior to obtaining her nursing degree, she was employed at Montgomery Ward's, Anthony's and Seamprufe. Her hobbies were walking, fishing, shopping, cooking, home decorating and spoiling grandkids. Survivors include her husband, James M. Countz, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, James Taylor and Barbara Countz, of Indianola; a daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and John Adams, of Indianola. Also, five grandsons and spouses, James Darrell and Donna Countz, of Indianola, Robert Michael Countz, of McAlester, Thomas Christopher and Deanna Countz, of McAlester, Johnny William and Jennifer Warren, of Germany, and David Lee and Jamie Adams, of Muskogee; a granddaughter and spouse, Amanda Leeanne and Marlon Landry, Little Elm, Texas. And, her great-grandchildren, Krystle Elaine Countz, of Stuart, James Wesley Countz, of Indianola, Joshua Caleb Countz, of Indianola, Railey Elise Warren, of Germany and Noah Addison Landry, Little Elm, Texas. And, a brother and sister-in-law, Dee and Lucille Sanders, of McAlester; a brother-in-law and spouse, Robert and Irene Countz, of McAlester, and nieces and nephews, Carolyn Sanders, of McAlester, Peggy Campbell, of McAlester, and Michael Sanders, of Texas. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, James Darrell Countz, Robert Michael Countz, Thomas Christopher Countz, David Lee Adams and Marlon Douglas Landry. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Thomas, Frank Cox and Ronnie Rippy. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Sanders; her stepmother, Violet Bowman Sanders; a halfbrother, William Howard Sanders; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Buena Rue and Stella Mae Countz, and a nephew, Johnny Dee Sanders. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Indianola First Baptist Church with the Rev. William Nixon officiating. Burial will be at the Countz Family Cemetery, three miles west and one mile north of Indianola School. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
