OBITUARY - Waukesha Dispatch - Waukesha, WI. - May 6, 1916
Mrs. Caroline Vogel, aged 89, died at her home in the town of Brookfield last week, the funeral being held Friday afternoon, with interment in the Wauwatosa cemetery. Deceased was born in Hanover, Germany, her maiden name being Garvens. She came to America when a girl. In 1853 she was married to Christian Vogel, and of this union seven children were the issue, only two of whom --- August, of New Berlin, and Otto, on the old homestead --- are now living.

Mrs. Caroline Vogel
Mrs. Caroline Vogel (nee Garvens) passed away at her home in Brookfield April 25, at the age of eighty-nine years. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon. Burial was at Wauwatosa cemetery. Mrs. Vogel was born in Hanover, Germany, in 1827, and came to America when quite young. She was married to Christian Vogel in 1853. Seven children were born to them, five of whom are dead, Lena, Theresa Thill, Louisa Link, Albert and one who died in infancy. She is survived by one sister, Mary Frederick, of Sheboygan; two sons, August of New Berlin, and Otto, at the home. Twenty-three grand-children, eleven great-grand-children, and a large number of other relatives and friends also mourn her loss.
