She was the daughter of James Stevens and Georgiana Haines Stevens. Her father, James Stevens, age 58, died on July 28, 1862 at New Orleans of sunstroke. He was a former member of the firm White, Stevens & Co. of Philadelphia. On Wednesday, February 12, 1873, she married Alexander Beall at Beth-Eden Church at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
