Josie Frances Almand was given the middle name for her grandmother- Frances Matilda. My great aunt Josie was the family historian and left quite a few records.She also wrote the history of Comer,GA for a UGA paper.She taught school in Madison County and retired to take care of her ailing husband,Homer.They married 1 June 1926 in Sumter, S.C. at Grace Baptist Church,. Her only child was Charles Chandler,who lived just 10 days.My grandmother,Mattie Sue Noell Almand delievered the child.She was known for her beautiful flower garden, mainly dalahias. She collected many vases and she regularly put flower arrangements in the Comer Baptist Church.I have a beautiful portrait of her as a young girl.
