Memorial Services were held on May 23, 1964 for Jack C. Hill who died in a plane crash on July 7, 1948.

Memorial services in Elmwood Cemetery, Wagoner, Oklahoma on Saturday, Memorial Day, will be held at the grave of Jack C. Hill, 25, who was killed in a plane crash, July 7, 1948.

Rev. A.K. Fleming, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will address the group. Military rites will be conducted by Capt. John D. Sleeper of Co. C. 1st Bn., 279th Infantry National Guard unit here in Wagoner.

A special program of taped music will start at 9:30 a. m. through the courtesy of Quinton Still. Local peace officers and Boy Scouts will assist with the traffic throughout the day.

Mr. Hill is the son of Mrs. Zoe C. Hill. Born in Wagoner, he was a graduate of Wagoner High School and a World War II veteran serving as a technical sergeant with the 301st. Bombardier Group, 32nd Bombardier Squadron as a radio operator.

On June 26, 1944, he was in a plane shot down over Yugoslavia, captured immediately upon landing and held as a prisoner of war in Stettin, Germany, near the Baltic Sea, until May 2, 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star and was a member of the Caterpillar Club, made up of fliers forced to leave their planes with parachutes. Besides his mother, Mr. Hill is survived by one brother, Bob, also of Wagoner.
