Daniel was one of the first settlers of the North Parish of Bridgewater. He was a justice of the peace, a captain of the militia, a representative to the General Court for fourteen years, from 1748 to 1750, from 1755 to 1766, and again in 1772.

Daniel was married to Damaris Williams on January 16, 1723/24 in West Bridgewater, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. They were the parents of three children.
