June Knox Thompson, 91, of Quincy, formerly of Loraine, died at 3:28 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 5, 2009) in the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Quincy. June was born Dec. 11, 1917, in Lima, a daughter of Robert and Alice Thompson Whitefield. She married Lowell E. Knox on Feb. 17, 1940, in Quincy. He died March 2, 1993. She later married Charles John Thompson on Sept. 27, 1994, in Ursa. He died Dec. 1, 2007. June was a member of Centennial Ebeneezer United Methodist Church. She loved to dance, play cards, read and work in her flower garden. Surviving are two children, Robyn Knox and his wife, Paula, of Ursa and Sharon Harkness and her husband, Terry, of Champagne; five grandchildren, Travis Knox and his wife, Jenny, of Corinth, Miss., Justin Knox and his wife, Donna, of Ursa, Melanie Herndon and her husband, David, of Glen Carbon, Mary Harkness and her husband, Martin, of Minneapolis, Minn., and Sarah Wotherspoon and her husband, Bob, of Berkeley, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren, Sam Knox, Jack Knox, Joe Knox, Robyn Herndon, Jonah Herndon, Elliott Herndon, Olivia Knox and Corbin Knox, and one on the way; and three sisters, Nancy Blickhan of Quincy, Margaret Way of Quincy and Ruth Adkisson of Gulf Shores, Ala. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; and two sisters. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday in Ursa Christian Church conducted by the Rev. Linda Hunsaker. Burial will be in New Providence Cemetery, near Ursa. VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. today in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centennial Ebeneezer United Methodist Church or Ursa Christian Church. ARRANGEMENTS: Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon.
