Forrest B. Beene passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2008, in his cabin at The Lodge, an assisted living facility, in Noblesville, Indiana.

Forrest was born in Royse City, Texas, to Tobe Beene and Pauline Womack Beene on September 27, 1920. He moved to Freeport in 1942 and married Maxine Bowman on April 24, 1943. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage.

Forrest was employed by Dow Chemical Company, Freeport Division, in 1942. He retired from Dow as a Maintenance Foreman in 1984 after 42 years of service.

Forrest was a faithful member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Freeport for many years before moving to Noblesville, Indiana, to be close to his daughter, Charlotte. During his years at St. Paul's he served in many capacities including Senior Warden, Junior Warden and Sunday School Teacher.

Forrest was a longtime member of the Freeport Lions Club where he served in every position. He received the Melvin Jones Award in 2003. He was also involved with the Brazosport Care Bears.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tobe and Pauline Beene.

Forrest is survived by his wife of 65 years, Maxine Beene; and their daughter, Charlotte and her husband, Ric Snyder, of Noblesville, Indiana; granddaughter, Bree Anne Snyder of Fishers, Indiana; and grandson, Bradley Beene Snyder and his wife, Courtney, of Columbus, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 1307 W. Fifth St. in Freeport at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2008, and will be led by the Rev. Robert Dohle.
