Eddin Lewis was a son of Samuel and Elizabeth Clayton Lewis of Caldwell Co., KY.
Eddin married Winifred Easley, daughter of Daniel and Margaret McWhorter Easley, in Caldwell Co., KY 25 December 1826. In 1830, they migrated to Ball Township, Sangamon Co., IL, probably at the same time as Winifred's parents.
Winifred died in 1843, whereupon Eddin married Permelia A. Fletcher, a daughter of Job Fletcher 28 May 1844 in Sangamon Co.
Eddin accquired large land holdings and prospered as a farmer and businessman. The mortality schedule for 1850 for Sangamon Co. states the he died of "lung fever", i.e., probably pneumonia. He is buried next to his mother, Elizabeth Clayton Lewis, whose tombstone is still barely visible. Eddin's is now almostly completely buried.
