Lanier, Mrs. Nita A.

STATESBORO, GA - Mrs. Nita A. Lanier, age 86, died Thursday morning at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro. She was a native of Statesboro and a member of the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Lanier retired from the Bulloch Rural Telephone Company after 37 years of service. She enjoyed her family, church, friends, her church choir and flowers.
Mrs. Lanier was preceded in death by her husband, Winton Lanier; and her parents, John Daniel Akins and Kate Lanier Akins; two nephews, Silas Williams and Irwin Anderson; and a nephew-in-law, James Murrell.
Although Mrs. Nita never had any children, she loves and claims all the nieces and nephews, their children and their children's children as her very own. She is survived by 10 nieces and their spouses, Shelby and Bobby Dooley, Patsy Murrell, Linda and James Dooley, Nell and Wayne Howell, Janis and Jimmy Mcteer, Gayle and Griffin Yarbrough, Ann and Sammy Glisson, Betty and Bill Linthcum, Martha and Lelton James, Hilda and Charles Hood; nine nephews and their spouses, James and Vickie Akins, Dan and Beth Akins; a niece-in-law, Willa Dean Anderson; Elder Lavonne and Elizabeth Anderson, a niece-in-law, Bonnie Williams; Mike and Debbie Akins, R.L. Akins, Don Anderson and Howard Williams.
The funeral service were held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Randy Waters officiating, assisted by Elder Lavonne Anderson and Elder W.H. Durrence.

Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Mina Franklin Circle and the Faith Bible Study Class.
Burial followed in Eastside Cemetery.

Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of arrangements.
