He was born in Augusta County, Nov. 12, 1893, a son of the late John T. and Laura Harris Almarode. He had been retired for the past 14 years and was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, the Worthwhile Bible Class and the Jollivue-Barterbrook Ruritan Club.
Mr. Almarode served in the United State Army during World War I.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Clark Almarode; two sons, Albert Clark Almarode of Camden, S. C., and Richard L. Almarode of Tallahassee, Fla.; two brothers, Lacy Almarode of Route 1, Waynesboro and Walter Almarode of Route 1, Stuarts Draft; a sister, Mrs. George McCray of Fishersville; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the East Chapel of Hamrick Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. L. Eugene Jordan, pastor of Olivet Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stuarts Draft.
Active pallbearers will be James A. Harris, Robert Ashley, Fulton H. Brown, F. Keyser Kirtley, A. K. Halterman, R. T. Dalton, B. Bowman Link and Joseph H. Whitesell.
Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and members of the Jollivue-Barterbrook Ruritan Club.
The body is at Hamrick Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. today.
