Caroline Enwall (Karolina Jonsson) came to the United States from Sweden when she was 14, with her parents JOHANNES JONSSON* and, LISA SOFIA ISRAELSDOTTER, and brother ISRAEL, in 1849 on the ship "Minona", arriving at Boston, Massachusetts, on 25 June.
* There are variations for Caroline's father's last name. On his passenger list, it's Jonsson. On the "U.S. Civil War Soldiers, 1861-1865, 1st Regiment, Illinois Light Artillery", it's Johnson.
Her siblings were KARL GUSTAF, b. 08 Feb, 1823; ANNA SOFIA, b. 02 Jun, 1824; KRISTINA LOVISA, b. 13 Dec, 1826; ISRAEL, b. 07 Feb, 1829; KARL JOHAN, b. 30 May, 1832; and KATRINA MARIA, b. 15 Sep, 1833. Karl Gustaf. Anna Sophia, Kristina Lovisa, and Israel, were born in Vastersum. Karl Johan and Katrina Maria were born in Tolebo, as was Karolina (Caroline).
Caroline's sister Kristina Lovisa also came to the United States but it is not known when. She married Swan Gustus Peterson about 1850 in Henry County, IL. He was born 05 Oct, 1819, Hornsberg, Horn Parish, Östergötland, Sweden, died 30 Aug, 1880, Lynn Center, Henry County, IL. Kristina died 27 Jan, 1892, Lynn Center, Henry County, IL. The had 8 children. Swan and Kristina is buried in Swedona West Cemetery, Mercer County, IL, Space 23.
Louis (or Lewis) and Caroline were married 31 Jul, 1854, in Rock Island, Illinois. They made their home in Swedona, Illinois, where 8 of their children were born. They moved to Columbia, Iowa, between 1871 and 1875 where their 9th child, MY GRANDFATHER CHARLES LEROY was born, then moved again between 1875 and 1879 to Clay Center, Nebraska, where their 10th and last child was born.
