--Mrs. Elizabeth Gillespie died at her home near Rosman, Feb. 26. She was 87 years old July 1, 1918. Had been sick for about one year.
--She joined the Baptist church while young and has been a consistant member ever since. Her membership being with the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church at the time of her death.
--Her maiden name was Lynch. She was the last of sixteen children of her father's family to die. Although some were younger than she.
--Mrs. Gillespie was born and raised in Pickens county, S. C. until the age of eighteen. She married Jason Gillespie and came to Transylvania County, where they lived happily together.
--Her husband fought in the Civil war. During his absence their house was burned.
--He died during the year of 1888.
--She leaves eight children.
