Alex Meena, 91, of Louisville, died peacefully at Baptist Hospital East. Born in Clairton, PA, Alex brought his family to Louisville in 1954, where he worked for the Guardsman Company. "People who knew Alex fondly remember his magical ability to create a wonderful dinner at the drop of a hat. His bean soup was hard to beat and so was his gin game, even at 91." He was preceded in death by a daughter, Zada Anne. Survivors include his wife, Zada; two sons, David of Louisville and Victor of Orlando, FL; daughter, Lynne of New York, NY; four brothers, Nicke and Richard Meena, both of Louisville, Eddie Meena of Bridgeville, PA, and Lincoln Meena of Jacksonville, FL; four loving grandchildren, Lauren and Damon and Amelia and Elliot; great-granddaughter, Ava; and 19 nieces and nephews. Alex's children thank the Palliative Care Unit of Baptist East for its compassion and care. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Cave Hill Cemetery. Those wishing may gather at the Broadway gate at 10:50 a.m. Saturday. Visitation will be from 4:30-8 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2004, at Ratterman & Sons, 3800 Bardstown Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts go to benefit the donor's favorite charity or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
