Mrs. W.J. Gathof Sr., died at 5:30 p.m. yesterday [September 27, 1959] at her home, 4307 Darbrook Road. Mrs. Gathof, the former Stella Schardein, was a member of Audubon Country Club, Richmond Boat Club and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Her husband, a flour broker here, died in 1947. Prominent in golfing here in earlier years, Mrs. Gathof was runner-up in the women's Falls City golf championship in 1931. She is survived by a son, William J. Gathof Jr.; a sister, Mrs. Sanford Vaughn, and four grandchildren. The body is at Pearson's, 149 Breckinridge Lane.
