Army flier and star football player (quarterback) at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point 1927-1930. Graduated with Class of 1930, Cullum No. 8849. Killed in the crash of his P-12E airplane at Barksdale Field, LA. Member of the 79th Pursuit Squadron. One of the first Air Service pilots assigned to fly mail routes in the 1930s, he was the 7th crash casualty death at Barksdale Field. West Point records give the year of his birth as 1906 but his tombstone lists 1908. The latter year is probably correct.
